Dining etiquette stretches back centuries – the first descriptions of such traditions were documented by the Ancient Greeks. European dining manners, which we are more familiar with date back as far as 16th century. However, the questionis: Why should we stick to these outdated elitist ways of living?
We created an alternative zine about the topic in which we question the table manners. This publication is working closely with the ‘What happens at the table…’ performance, which was a table art performance hosted by us. Therefore, we decided to create the zine in a way that it provides the reader DIY performance so they can recreate our table performance at home.
The zine itself is printed on a tablecloth which can be used as part of the DIY performance after reading. We included plates, cutlery, and instructions in the set. To make the reader situation easier, we made a box in which they will find all the elements I previously mentioned. Furthermore, the box itself contains some of the rules of the performance.
